As this winter moves forward, the anticipation of a new season approaches, with its sense of newness, beautiful scents, fresh hope and new life.
I think about this, and I think about our church. Through the years, our church family has gone through many changes. Some have moved on to other ventures and tasks assigned by our Lord, in His work and the building of His Church. Others have moved forward, called home by our Lord, to wait for that great day when we are all united again, the great return of Jesus Christ.
No matter the changes, our hope and our Foundation remain the same. Our forefathers and foremothers, who have moved forward to be with our Lord, built this church by the prompting and Hand of Almighty God. They did this because, as we know and believe, He is in control and nothing happens without His permission.
So then, although it may be sad when one of us moves on or moves forward, let’s remember His Promises and that He does not lie. And remember, He built this church, and our Lord does not make mistakes. Let’s continue to bring glory to His Name. Encourage each other, love each other and hold each other up for this task.
1 Thessalonians 4: 13-14; 18: “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep…18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
John 14: 1-3: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
Revelation 3:7: “…. These are the words of Him Who is holy and true, Who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.”
